Why Public Health?

The need for preventing disease, prolonging life and promoting health through organised efforts and informed choices of society, organisations, public and private sectors, communities and individuals has been gathering pace in the ever changing World. The current public health agenda sets out a clear role for all healthcare professionals to be involved in improving the health of the population they serve. There is now the trend toward multi-professional working in public health sectors around the World. This is complicated by advances in medical practice and techniques, which meant that people are living longer with various health challenges. Public Health Workers are also required to be involved in research and education in order to improve their skills and techniques. The courses on Mastering Practical Public Health Skills are designed to equip professionals with the knowledge and understanding in order to face the challenges in public health and medical practice in the 21^st Century.
